Secretary General Letter
My name is Alexa Young
Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, Staff and Partners,
My name is Nuthanan Tharmarajah, a Grade 12 student at Maple High School and it is my utmost honour to welcome you all to the first iteration of MHSMUN. Being situated in one of the most diverse cities across the country and right next to the largest amusement park in Canada, Maple High is extremely honoured to host the first ever Model UN conference in Vaughan. As this year's Secretary General, I am honoured to lead the charge to bring together the passionate Model UN enthusiasts across the Greater Toronto Area for an incredible day of debate at one of the largest upcoming clubs in the Model UN realm.
Maple MUN first started back in 2019 with a relatively small group of members gaining experience together. Five years later, our club has had incredible achievements and improvements, including becoming one of the largest clubs that is offered within Maple as a whole. Five years later, with our incredible staff team and passionate members, we have had the honour to officially accomplish a feat that has been in the running for a long time, hosting our first conference. This would not have been possible if it weren’t for the incredible legacy that has been built by our previous members and graduates and our faculty advisors, connecting our past to the present, together.

The legacy of Maple MUN has been impactful to many individuals and adding onto such legacy would not be possible if it were not for the incredible staff and secretariat who have been working tirelessly to make this dream a reality. They are genuinely incredible and brilliant and I know for a fact that their efforts will be evidently seen in your experience at MHSMUN 2024.
I am thrilled to see what MHSMUN 2024 will bring, and I cannot wait to meet all of you in Vaughan.
Sincerely,
Nuthanan Tharmarajah
Secretary General
Maple High School Model United Nations 2024
